Chiropractic Manipulation
There are many different ways in which a Doctor of Chiropractic can effect the relative position of the bones and joints of the human body. The overall goal is to improve the natural motion between two bones and enhance the nervous system input to the area by reducing tension on the supporting muscles, tendons and ligaments. While many practitioners may perform skeletal manipulations, why trust your body to those that may have learned a few techniques in a weekend workshop over those that spend years of their education and daily practice mastering the skill?
Activator Instrument Adjusting involves the use of a tool that applies a very localized light force over the area that the Chiropractor determines needs to be adjusted. While some practitioners follow a protocol according to the Activator Methods, Dr. Ebling utilizes the tool as an extension of her hands and adjusts based on motion palpation of the specific segment and the surrounding musculature. This tool is often used for individuals that are in significant pain and the positioning of Diversified Adjusting is uncomfortable or for people that are osteoporotic or otherwise prefer a more gentle touch.
Diversified Adjusting refers to a style of adjusting that involves specific positioning of the affected area followed by the application of a high-velocity and low-amplitude thrust to improve the mechanics of the region. Often a "crack" or "pop" is heard as the fluid and gases inside the joint capsule are released, but this is not necessarily the sign of an effective adjustment. More important is the motion that is felt in the joint, and often a relatively quick decrease in local pain or tenderness in the area.
Drop Table Adjusting utilizes a special table that has sections that fall away as the doctor applies force to a specific area. The motion of the table increases the speed of the adjustment, thereby allowing a lower force through the body. Many patients prefer this type of adjusting as the body is typically left in a neutral position, which can translate to a more comfortable experience, especially when someone is in a lot of pain. Very rarely are any pops or cracks heard, but similar effects can be achieved.

For many people that suffer from chronic low back, hip and leg pain, the muscles and joints of the pelvic bowl are often affected. Like the other skeletal muscles in the body, this area is susceptible to altered tension or tone and can develop trigger points and scar tissue from trauma, stress or changed bio- mechanics. If you have sought treatment for the above with minimal relief or if you suffer from stress incontinence, have pelvic pain or are postpartum, then internal soft tissue work or manipulation to the coccyx may be indicated. Dr. Ebling brings her 11 years of experience working with soft tissue to this integral and often overlooked area. She is very sensitive to the physical and emotional intensity of this region of the body and will thoroughly discuss your specific needs prior to administering care. An initial evaluation and external treatment are required before receiving any internal work. Full disclosure of the procedure, risks to care, and

your alternative options will be discussed at that time.

Dr. Ebling combines her 11 years as a Licensed Massage Therapist and her 7 years as an educator of Massage Therapy with her Doctor of Chiropractic license to provide effective soft tissue work along with her bony adjustments. Her work is deep yet gentle with a focus on connective tissues that tie distant areas together.
She believes in involving you in the work and incorporates many techniques that fall under the Neuromuscular umbrella to help your brain recognize the changes your body is trying to make. Additionally she incorporates techniques borrowed from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) such as Instrument Assisted Massage
(known as "Gua Sha" in TCM) as well as negative pressure Cupping to facilitate the break down of scar tissue and the release of fascia.
She has found both of these techniques to drastically improve the removal of metabolic wastes from chronically tight areas, thereby allowing the body to heal faster and generate healthy tissue in a more functional way. Physical Therapists and Sports Physicians have utilized microcurrent for many years, recognizing its ability to send a subtle electrical charge to broken bones and torn ligaments to drastically reduce healing time. Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) uses this same technology, but in a more fine tuned way. Various tissues and pathologies in the body respond to different levels of current that are generated within the human body itself. The "blue box" that you see in the picture has the ability to change the frequencies that it puts out on two separate channels to painlessly address a host of conditions affecting the entire human system. The device is registered with the FDA as a TENS unit and as such is recognized as a safe means of providing pain control. No medical treatment is ever guaranteed to work, but top athletes and patient's all over the world consistently report reductions in pain levels, faster recovery time and general satisfaction with the device in the hands of a trained practitioner.

Dr. Ebling utilizes the FSM technology to enhance her Chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work to provide relief for acute and chronic pain alike.

What good are all of your efforts to improve your health if the effects of your visit to your Chiropractor or Massage Therapist do not last? Dr. Ebling believes that maintaining how your body feels after a visit lies in appropriate Self Care. It may be that what you do in between appointments is the key to lasting relief. She will customize easy to
incorporate stretches and light strengthening
exercises to your body, your activity level and your schedule. She understands how busy you are and wants to teach you the tools that you need so you can help yourself. No matter who you see for your health care needs, stay hydrated and keep your body moving!
The fascial system includes the connective tissues that link all bones, muscles, organs and even vessels together. It not only wraps every structure into it's own envelope, keeping it separate and distinct from it's neighbors, but it also helps to support our bodies through an idea known as "tensegrity". Like the mast on a ship that is held up by opposing forces, much of the body relies on diagonal and distant anchoring for the combined strength and flexibility that it is so good at. Rolfing and Structural Integration are two specialized types of body work that deal primarily with the fascial system. While Dr. Ebling does not practice the exact tenants of Structural Integration, she has studied under many and utilizes similar concepts in her working with bodies.
A unique tape that remains in place for 3-5 days showing promising results with chronic and acute swelling as well as pain relief. Seen on a growing number of athletes and now available at Ebling Chiropractic for your body too.
